Do meatless soyless "hot dogs" exist?

Upon reading this article and obviously experiencing cookouts for Independence Day, I must investigate! I seldom eat meat (1-2 times a month) for health reasons, but when I crave something like hot dogs (and I am allergic to soy) what else can a girl do?

Does anyone know of a soyless meatless hot dog?

Spicy Black Bean Cakes I had to start making my own bean burgers, being that I am allergic to soy and all the store bought ones are chalk full of that stuff. I made a few changes to the recipe… I sautéed three button mushrooms in olive oil. I fire roasted the jalapeños before dicing them. I substituted the bread crumbs with panko crumbs. This delicious recipe still needs some work. The bean cakes are flavorful and filling but the texture is a bit dry. I think I will try adding 6-10 mushrooms next time to add moisture, that said this is still one of my favorite bean burger recipes. I like to serve these on the Sara Lee “Honey Wheat Thin Buns” with a slice of pepper jack cheese, baby bibb lettuce, and a slice of tomato (condiments to taste). The recipe suggest serving them hot with a dollop of spicy lime sour cream (sour cream, lime and fresh diced jalapeños), I have yet to try it this way and if I did I am sure I would add fresh cilantro or mint to the mix.
